Insider's Guide to St Thomas Attractions

Roll down the window and let the wind fly through your hair as you whisk your way through wild St. Thomas scenery - the road tour across this fantastic island is the very best way to see all of the wonderful things that this exceptional Caribbean destination has to offer.

First, though, it would probably be a good idea for you to know, generally, what it is that you are looking for when you set out to see the sights on this magical tropical island tour. Are you looking for history? Are you looking for amazement? Are you looking for some of the most picture perfect beaches and landscapes in the entire world?

No matter what you are looking for, the driving tour of St. Thomas is bound to take you there. So keep your eyes peeled as we explore one of top tourist destinations and prepare to be impressed. Logistically speaking, I would say that the hassle-free nature of taking an organized driving tour is actually an "attraction" in and of itself (you'll never realize how difficult a simple organizational task can be until you've traveled around to other world tropical regions).

So let us just suffice it to say that Tropic Tours is the company that is going to be your first choice (aside from "winging it" on your own with a rental car). Tropic Tours is located at 14AB Estate Thomas and you should fee free to give these friendly folks a call at (340) 774-1855 and let the magic begin. For the small price of between $20 and $40 per person, and you will get an opportunity to see all of the highs and lows of general St. Thomas island attractions.

With Tropic Tours, you'll get a fabulous run down and up close viewing of the top of the mountain, the St. Peter's Estate known to locals and visitors alike as the Greathouse, the Seat of Drake and the unbelievable and action packed four-block-long shopping area located right down town in the U.S. Virgin Island capital city of Charlotte Amalie.

But here's an insider's tip: you may not feel like you've really seen everything after spending an afternoon doing this driving tour. That's right; you may even feel a little bit, well, deflated. It is for this reason that, while I would still highly recommend this tour, I would also recommend supplementing the tourism with a personal visit to some of these other fantastic St. Thomas activities.

So right after getting off of the driving tour, you will undoubtedly want to spend a few hours at the fantastic bazaar that the tour may leave you off at. This is the shopping center geared specifically toward happy island vacationers like you, and it is one of the most amazing places to buy things in the Caribbean that you can possibly imagine. In fact, I can think of few others in the world - Khan al Kalili in Cairo, Egypt, the streets of downtown Los Angeles, California, and this.

Another great place to check out on your hero's tour of the beautiful island of St. Thomas is the exceptional botanical gardens that are located at the very well known Great House of the St. Peter Estate. It's here that a fascinated island visitor like you could conceivably be spending hours upon hours strolling through the amazing selection of garden samples that extend over a mind boggling tract of land that numbers over ten acres. Follow the signs and find yourself taken aback by the organic mysteries of hundreds of exotic Madagascaran plants, botany from West India and even some local varieties from right there on the island of St. Thomas. There is also a breathtaking look out point where you can see other Virgin Islands such as Thatched Cay, Madahl Point and the mysterious Hans Lollick Island (nobody lives there). Located at 6A St. Peter Mountain Rd., you can call up these fine folks by dialing (340) 774-4999.

If you have a little bit of cash and a whole lot of what the islanders here like to call "sense of adventure," the Undersea Observatory here at the Coral World Marine Park is the place for you. It's visitors' favorite attraction on the island, simply because it is so amazing: with live feeding pools for the friends as well as the foe of the aquatic food chain, you yourself will get to experience what divers do when you waltz about under twenty feet of water, connected to a tube of air, and play with the beautifully multi-colored fish. Call them up at (340) 775-1555 or visit their website at www.coralworldvi.com. They're located right next to Coki Bay.
